Soh Jaipil Lecture with Jung Eun Kwon
This lecture examines South Korea’s suicide prevention system from the inside, drawing on ethnographic fieldwork conducted at public prevention centers and NGOs between 2021–2022. Her talk explores how administrative frameworks translate human distress into categories, protocols, and metrics—and what gets lost when care becomes standardized.
This lecture invites us to rethink how suicide, care, and empathy are understood within institutional systems, and to question the limits of policy-driven approaches to deeply human crises.
Open to all interested in public health, anthropology, policy, and care
