The Department of East Asian Languages and Cultures at Smith College invites applications for the position of Lecturer of Korean. This renewable three-year, benefits eligible position will begin July 1, 2027. Teaching responsibilities for this position will regularly include five courses, mainly Korean language courses; occasionally a course on Korean culture taught in English. Other courses may be taught depending upon the candidate’s field of specialization. Candidates must have a native or near-native fluency in Korean and English, and experience in language teaching at all levels, with a commitment to excellence in teaching. A Master’s degree in Korean language pedagogy or a related field is expected by the time of appointment. Candidates from groups underrepresented in Asian Studies are encouraged to apply.
